The Dagenham Digest was a small quarterly publication produced by the Borough of Dagenham between 1948-1965. The digest explained local government for residents, described public services, justified public spending, and shared population statistics, building projects and history articles.
In 1965, after the two boroughs of Barking and Dagenham merged to form one borough, the publication became known as the Barking Record.
