Tenants’ handbooks were produced for residents of the Becontree Estate by both the London County Council and Dagenham Urban District Council. They set out the many rules for tenants including for upkeep and maintenance of houses, detail the facilities available and give an overview of the local area.

The Becontree Sketch was published early in the construction of the Becontree Estate in 1922 by the Church of England. It includes a plan of the estate that was never realised.
