A programme of art, culture and new infrastructure to reimagine the future of the UK’s biggest council housing estate
A typical end of terrace, council-owned house on Lodge Avenue will be used as a base for resident engagement for the Becontree Design Code and Becontree Future Neighbourhoods strategy, and as a ‘model house’ to co-design and prototype retrofitting a net zero carbon home and adaptation structures at various scales.
The Becontree Model House, alongside a Becontree Design Code and a Becontree Future Neighbourhoods strategy, is one of three projects led by Be First, Barking & Dagenham Council’s regeneration company, that aim to bring residents together to reimagine the estate for future generations.
